On the second day you will explore the village of Theth and the enchanted and wild valleys formed by the impervious northern Albanian Alps.
Your guide will pick you up at the hotel to get to Lake Koman your expert guide will introduce you to the attractions and the history of the site. Arriving at the pier, you will get on board one of the boats with which the local population also moves. These are comfortable twenty-seater boats through which you can enjoy all the magic of the morning light on Lake Koman. In the late morning you will arrive in one of the least known and most beautiful locations in Albania. The beaches along the Shala River welcome us with all their magic. Clear waters, white beaches, caves and rock spurs define the landscape of what has rightly been called the Thailand of Albania. On the Shala it is possible to swim, venture on a canoe excursion or simply sunbathe while sipping an aperitif. Each can decide how to spend their free time. We all meet for lunch at the restaurant at the riverside. After lunch, at 3:00 pm, you leave to return to the pier and reach Shkodra, where you will settle in the hotel, before taking a walk, the guided walking tour of the city.
It starts from Shkoder at 7am, in this Albania city break you will first stop in the green valley of Boga to relax with a coffee. It is scheduled to arrive in Theth at 10:30 am, where we will be greeted by colors and scents. These are the unforgettable glimpses of the lavender fields, which can be seen here in the heart of Theth National Park. We proceed on foot in the old village of Theth, where tall buildings seem like towers. We visit the church and the Tower of Vengeance (Kulla e ngujimit), a building that was used as a shelter in the time of revenge and bloodshed during the feuds between families (gjakmarrja). We continue towards the old mill and take the path that leads to the canyon of Theth, with its waterfalls and natural pools where you soak. When lunch time arrives, a special menu awaits us at the restaurant, based on traditional Albanian Alps cuisine.
Incredible secrets are hidden in the mountains of northern Albania. Koman lake is one of the best lakes in Albania, with crystalline green water that extends far and wide. Surrounded by woods, rocks and small villages, this area welcomes visitors with its magical colors. Here you can relax, and breathe clean and clear air, that will brighten your thoughts. But, you can also carry out numerous activities, including trekking, Albania natural park, sport fishing and canoeing trips.
Koman lake is a relatively recent invention. Over forty years ago, water from the Drini i Zi and Drini i Bardhe, passing through the hydroelectric dam of Fierza, was channeled here. The result was one of the most spectacular artificial basins of all the Balkans, functional for the creation of electricity, and today on the list of the most secret and enjoyable destinations in Albania.
Around here you can move almost exclusively by boat or on foot. A bit like the inhabitants of Venice, the locals mostly use the ferry to move between one side to the other. Even students who have to go to Shkodra University mostly choose the ferry, considering that it is the fastest way to reach the faculty. Whether you travel by necessity or as a tourist, the boat always remains the best way to enjoy the landscape on Koman Lake. The surrounding landscape is that of unspoiled nature, the green of the woods and the grey of the rock are reflected in the waters, creating exciting light effects.
