Day 1: From Tirana/Durres towards North Albania and Montenegro
We leave Tirana around 7:00 am and head north for our tour. Explore the level regions of Northwest Albania, a center of trade and manufacturing. The only navigable river in Albania, the Buna River, leads us to the border of Montenegro as it passes past the medieval city of Lezha. Make a brief stop at the base of Rozafa's Castle.
Proceed on your journey to Montenegro, where you will find the fascinating town of Kotor. Tucked away in a distinct gulf, Kotor's history opens up like a book, highlighting influences from many eras, most notably the Venetian Republic. Wander through the Old City's squares, alleys, and historical sites, such as the sturdy "Sea Gate," which marks the city's liberation from World War II.
The trip continues to Budva, a charming gem of the Adriatic with a 2600-year history. Explore the historic city's winding streets, the Roman ruins, and the magnificent coastal views from the Budva Fortress. After enjoying a leisurely lunch, travel to Shkoder, the capital of North Albania, which is renowned for its natural beauty, rich history, and folklore. Spend the night in Shkoder.
Day 2: Driving from Shkoder to Prizren
Say goodbye to Shkoder and join us on our journey to Prizren, the Cultural Capital of Kosovo. This city, which is situated between the Prizren Castle and the Bistrica River, was significant to Albanian history and is best known for the House of the Prizren League. Take a tour of the "Stone Bridge of Love," visit the Traditional Bazaar, and enjoy a traditional lunch.
Later, travel to Pristina, the contemporary capital of Kosovo. Explore historical and archaeological sites, such as the Old Neighborhoods, Cathedral, and National Library. Finish the day with an overnight stay in North Macedonia's capital, Skopje.
Day 3: Explore the city of Statues and Monuments, Skopje
Take a thorough tour of Skopje, known for being the "Memorial City of Statues." Travel the Vardar River while discovering modern-day Skopje and its well-known squares, bridges, and landmarks. Explore the Old City and the "House of Mother Teresa" before arriving at the Skopje Fortress.
Visit the "Mustafa Pasha" Mosque and the Church of "St Klemend of Ohrid" to learn about the city's tolerance towards all religions. The day concludes with a visit to the UNESCO-listed town of Ohrid, known as the "Jerusalem of the Balkan." After spending three unforgettable days exploring the Old City, "Samuil Fortress," and the picturesque Kaneo Bay, we will return to Tirana, capping off an incredible trip through the striking scenery and fascinating histories of Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
