MyTour takes you on a discovery of the most unspoiled and wild nature in Albania. South of Berat you'll encounter the allure of the Bogova waterfalls, with their natural pools to swim in, and the canyons on the Osum River, among the largest canyons in all of Albania, where nature's spectacle is repeated every day.
Guided tour of Bogova Waterfalls and Canyons on the Osum RiverIn southern Albania, near the town of Corovode, lies the area of the Canyons on the Osum River. Here you can discover an unexplored part of Albania. A region not yet touched by the routes of mass tourism, where you can find tranquility and, why not, experience some strong emotions in complete safety. The canyon area, which stretches around the bed of the Osum River, can be visited by anyone without walking difficulties. Families, groups of friends, couples, everyone can find their own dimension here. From adults who are content to stand in contemplation of the waterfalls, listening to the sounds of flowing water, to young people who throw themselves headlong into the most popular activities practiced here, rafting and canyoning.
First stop: Polican, Bogova and the waterfalls
Leaving Berat at 9 a.m., we reach Bogova in about 1.15 hours. As soon as we leave the city of Berat we are plunged into a series of breathtaking scenery. Among green valleys, rivers, hills, small villages asleep in time. Before arriving at our destination, we stop along the way for breakfast. Our pit stop is in Polican, a small town that developed in communist times, thanks to factories that produced weapons. Re-boarding our vehicles, after about half an hour of travel we reach Bogova, a picturesque village famous for its waters and waterfalls. From the center of the village we continue on foot to soak in the river atmosphere. Slowly we begin to hear a rumble peeping to our ears. It is the sound of nature, the sound of the waterfalls we are approaching. A magic that only happens within a protected natural area, far from the noise of traffic and city chaos. Passing grazing animals, crossing small wooden bridges, we arrive at Bogova Falls. It may not be Niagara Falls, but it has its charm! The fall of the clear water from the mountains manages to transfer to us a feeling of wild life. In addition, the water sliding over the rocks has created a small natural pool (about 8 meters deep) in which, in the warmer months, it is possible to bathe.
