Vlore is the third largest city in Albania by population and has the second biggest port, after Durres. You can take in around 2600 years of history in these parts. Indeed, Vlore port was founded in the 6th century BC by Greek colonists, becoming an important commercial port in Roman times. In Vlora on 28 November 1912 the Declaration of Independence from the Ottoman Empire was proclaimed, recognized internationally with the 1913 Treaty of London.
Today Vlore is an important tourist and cultural center on the southwestern coast of Albania. A part of the current population is of Greek origin. Overlooking the Ionian Sea, it offers kilometers of enchanting coasts. Here you will find bays, lagoons, beaches, and cliffs. The Karaburun Peninsula is waiting for you to get its beauty. They are places where you can experience the presence of nature in all its beauty. Those who love flora, fauna, the sea, fishing, and diving cannot miss these places.
After the pick up at the hotel, in about two and a half hours, you will reach Vlore. Our visit starts from the Vlore old town, you will then go on foot to admire the Italian buildings (1932), the old Muradie Mosque, designed in 1537 by the Turkish architect Mimar Sinan (that of the Suleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul) using the structure of a pre-existing Byzantine church.
In the late morning you will travel again to reach the Narta Lagoon Albania. This beautiful area extends between the northern Bay of Vlora and the easternmost part of the Strait of Otranto. Every year, tens of thousands of birds come to nest here. The area has a very important role due to the presence of a unique flora. Next to the lagoon there are two small islands, connected to the mainland by a 270 meters long bridge. An exciting wooden path on stilts, which allows us to enjoy a completely safe and unique experience. Then we reach the small Zvernec island, which stretches for 430 meters in length and 300 meters in width. Among pine forests and small paths, the only human presence here is the Zvernec Monastery.
During the day, participants will be able to agree with the guides to stop along the bay of Vlore and visit its coast. It will of course be possible to take advantage of the free time available for swimming and dining as you wish.
