Full-day tour from Berat to Mount Tomorr

Get aboard our 4x4 vehicles, we will comfortably reach the top of the mountain, located at 2416 meters above sea level, to enjoy a unique panorama and visit one of the sacred buildings dearest to the Muslims of Albania, the Teqe of the Bektash.

Albania not to be missed: the charm of Mount TomorrStarting from Berat at 9 in the morning, you will reach the top of the mountain in about three hours of travel. In the first part of the journey you will walk along asphalt roads until you will reach the base of the Sacred Tomorr mountain. Here several routes dedicated to river sports lovers - rafting, canyoning, as well as all those who practice hiking in Albania. Reaching the summit on foot is an undertaking to which truly trained people can dedicate, but you will conquer it in comfort and safely by means of MyTour. Beginning to climb you will realize how human activity has shaped the slopes and the dips of the sacred mountain. Small farms, olive groves, pastures for sheep, goats and cows slowly give way to a more barren terrain, where nature takes up more space. The cultivated land gives way to huge pine forests, which turn into beech woods as you go over 1,100-1,200 meters.

The Bektashi shrine, the Tekke BektashiYou will find yourselves in the Tomorrica region, an area between the prefectures of Berat and Elbasan, historically crossed by a strong Muslim identity. The first stop on our trip will be to the Bektash Teqe, not a real mosque, but rather a sanctuary. A sacred place for the brotherhood of the Bektashi, Muslim Sufis present in Albania since the 16th century, whose approach has always been based on respect and tolerance between religions. Here is the grave of some important dervishes, Sufis who had abandoned the material aspects of life, to devote themselves to mysticism and asceticism, leading a life of poverty. Every year in August, the Bektashi make a pilgrimage to the shrine, a modern and welcoming building. The celebrations last five days (from 20 to 25 August), attracting believers from Kosovo, Macedonia, and Albania. During the pilgrimage the participants move between songs, dances, ritual sacrifices of rams and hens, barbecues and prayers. The pinnacle of devotion can be reached by climbing Mount Tomorr on foot, to bring a greeting to the tomb of the saint Abaz Aliu, the grandson of Muhammad, as well as the founder of the brotherhood, who died in the battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
