Durrës County is located in the Albanian North-Western side. It borders the Adriatic Sea in the west and the counties of Dibër, Lezhë, and Tirana. The east is characterized by the Skanderbeg Mountains. The County of Durrës is one of the constituent counties in the northwest of Albania. Its climate is determined by its proximity to the Adriatic Sea and its considerable change in terrain. The central city Durrës is one of the largest cities on the Adriatic Sea and ranks 5th with a population of 175,110. It is also one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Durrës is home to Albania's main port, the Port of Durrës. The historical city of Krujë is the second-largest of the County. While in Durres keep in mind to visit the Roman amphitheater, the Byzantine city walls, right next to the amphitheater. There is also the Venetian tower that was built to reinforce the city castle by the Republic of Venice. Other attractions to visit while in the city are: the Church of Saint Astius, Archeological Museum, the Great Mosque of Durres. Among the attractions of the region, we can mention the Cape of Rodon. It is a rocky cape on the Adriatic Sea north of Durrës. In this area, you will also find Rodoni Castle, built by Skanderbeg in 1463 and the Saint Anthony Church.
